We finally made it to Chicago, Illinois. This state has been on our travel list for quite some time, but we just have not had a chance to go until last October. You all know our love for travel, and being a single mom shouldn’t stop you. Although I know, it can be challenging, but if you make it a priority, you can make it happen. We spent two full days in the Windy City, and we loved it. Since it was our first time visiting Chicago, I wanted to do as much as we could in 2 days, so I had a small “must-do” list.
We love to explore new cities, so continue reading to see where we went, what we did in 2 full days, and how you can enjoy Chicago as a single mom.
For years I’ve intended to go to Prairie Lights at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie, but somehow, I would always forget. Jailah and I went for the first time last week, And I now am sure we’ve been missing out on the most popular North Texas holiday attraction all these years!
Prairie Lights is a two-mile, drive-through holiday park experience, situated along the shores of Joe Pool Lake, that features a stunning display of more than four million lights (arranged in hundreds of scenes throughout the park) and other holiday activities. Read more
Have you had a chance to visit the Crayola Experience Plano yet? I was a little doubtful about it for quite some time. I imagined it was only for toddlers. Jailah and I decided to make our way and see for ourselves if it’s worth it and also see if kids six and older can enjoy it. As the name suggests, the Crayola Experience is a colorful attraction featuring exciting, hands-on fun. The magic of Crayola comes to life for kids of all ages! During our visit, we were able to confirm that Crayola Experience Plano can be fun for little and big kids. My daughter turned nine on April 24. Mother’s day was also almost two weeks ago. Two significant dates for me to write and publish this post and share something from my heart.
Each year on this day, we celebrate the greatest gift that I could have ever been given. Even though she stole my birthday, the day she came into this world will always be my favorite.
As she’s getting older, it is both fantastic and unbelievably scary watching her grow into her person.
From the moment my cheese ball was born, she’s been a big baby.
I mean, just look at how tall she is for her age!
The journey of Motherhood is not easy, and my daughter has taught me many valuable life lessons these last nine years.
There have been a lot of times where I’ve had to take a step back and re-think what I expect from her because, although she looks older, she’s still a little kid.
But then there are other moments where I’m thrown off a little and say, “Wait, is she trying to take advantage of my love?”
When it comes to Motherhood, we tend to overthink the majority of the time. We put unattainable expectations thinking we are wonder woman and often compare our parenting skills to our mothers.
Real-life pressures have helped me realize that Motherhood is not something you can figure out 100% of the time, despite the image that that perfect social media moms try to sell.
Below I am sharing nine lessons my daughter has taught me these nine years I’ve been able to spend with her. Read more
When you think about water parks, you instantly think, “My wallet is going to get hit hard” at least that’s what I would think. Especially as a single mom. You know nowadays most activities or attractions are super expensive. They have all these insane charges that can make it difficult for you to experience with your kiddos.
I had the opportunity to visit Epic Waters Indoor Water Parkthis past winter! I mean I would never have imagined you can go to the water park during the winter, but now you can!!
All year round!
Wespent eight full hours at the largest indoor water park under a single retractable roof in North America!
Yep, that is correct, there’s finally an indoor water park that is open year-round in the DFW.
If you know my daughter, you probably would see that she was a mermaid in her past life. She loves the water, the ocean, water parks, pools, and activities that have to do with water.
But let me tell you she doesn’t like to shower!
Now that makes no sense at all, does it?
Three weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the @postivemom_ #BrandYourVision workshop in Downtown Fort Worth.
I’ve known Elayna for quite a while now.
I was drawn into her amazing spirit when she shared her story at #WeAllGrow back in 2017.
Her story made me have a different outlook on life. I used to question a lot what I’ve been through, but when I heard her story, she completed transformed the way I needed to look at things. Read more
Why is it that I can’t find anyone to adopt my daughter and me in California? I mean is not like we don’t know our way around anyways.
We were supposed to be in California for a wedding over in Visalia, CA. Once we were in town, which was very similar to Texas, I looked up significant cities around us.
Fresno was the closest major city, but I also noticed that San Francisco was about three and a half hours away.
Back in August, I traveled to New York City for the very first time in my life.
The Big Apple was on my to-do list for sure, but I never felt that “OMG” feeling in my stomach to visit. Am I making any sense?
Well, I hope I do.
I arrived late in New York after my flight got delayed for 3 hrs.
I was scared, and I’m not going to lie. You know me, I’m always acting strong.
On the ride to my hotel, I couldn’t concentrate on what my Lyft driver was telling me, (I had a very, very talkative driver) I was so focused on seeing everything around me. Read more
