NINE THINGS MY DAUGHTER HAS TAUGHT ME

Universal Orlando

My daughter turned nine on April 24.
Mother’s day was also almost two weeks ago.
Two major dates for me to write and publish this post.

Each year on this day, we celebrate the greatest gift that I could have ever been given. Even though she stole my birthday, the day she came into this world will always be my favorite.
As she’s getting older, it is both amazing and unbelievably scary watching her grow into her own person.

From the moment my cheese ball was born, she’s been a big baby.
I mean just look at how tall she is for her age!

The journey of Motherhood is not easy, and my daughter has taught me many valuable life lessons these last nine years.

There have been lot of times where I’ve had to take a step back and re-think what I expect from her because, although she looks older, she’s still a little kid.
But then there are other moments where I’m thrown off a little and say, “Wait is she trying to take advantage of my love?”

When it comes to motherhood, we tend overthink the majority of time. We put unattainable expectations thinking we are wonder woman and often compare our parenting skills to our own mothers.

Real life pressures have helped me realize that motherhood is not something you can figure out 100% of the time, despite the image that that perfect social media moms try to sell.

Below I am sharing nine lessons my daughter has taught me these nine years I’ve been able to spend with her.

VISITING EPIC WATERS WATER PARK GRAND PRAIRIE AS A SINGLE MOM*

Epics Water GP

When you think about water parks, you instantly think “My wallet is going to get hit hard” at least that’s what I would think.
Specially as a single mom.
You know nowadays most activities or attractions are super expensive.
They have all these insane charges and fees that can make it difficult for you to experience with your kiddos.
I had the opportunity to visit Epic Waters Indoor Water Park this past winter!
I mean I would of never imagined you can go to the water park during the winter, but now you can!!
All year round!

We spent eight full hours at the largest indoor water park under a single retractable roof in North America!

Yep that is correct, there’s finally an indoor water park that is open year round in the DFW.

If you know my daughter, you probably would know that she was a mermaid in her past life.
She absolutely loves the water, the ocean, water parks, pools and activities that have to do with water.
But let me tell you she doesn’t like to shower!
Now that really makes no sense at all does it?

BRANDING YOUR VISION WITH ELAYNA FERNANDEZ- THE POSITIVE MOM

lifeassayra
Three weeks ago, I had the pleasure to attend the @postivemom_ #BrandYourVision workshop in Downtown Fort Worth.

I’ve known Elayna for quite a while now.
I was drawn into her amazing spirit when she shared her story at #WeAllGrow back in 2017.
Her story made me have a different outlook in life.  I used to question a lot what I’ve been through, but when I heard her story, she completed transformed the way I needed to look at things.

MY WORD FOR 2019

Two weeks after the beginning of the year, I can officially say that the year has started.

For some reason I feel like the first two weeks of the year still feels like the previous year or is it only me that feels that way?

Magnolia Market Waco

For the past year when the new year hits I come up with a word for the upcoming year that I want to use as inspiration.

This year is no different.
I decided to choose my word for 2019.

SAN FRANCISCO IN 4 HOURS

Why is it that I can’t find anyone to adopt my daughter and I in California?
I mean is not like we don’t know our way around anyways.

We were supposed to be in California for a wedding over in Visalia CA.
Once we were in town, which was very similar to Texas I looked up major cities around us.

Fresno was the closest major city but I also noticed that San Francisco was about 3 and half hours away.

NEW YORK CITY IN 3 DAYS

Hola!!

Long time no see huh?! I know.

Blame Mercury Retrograde…

Back in August I traveled to New York City for the very first time in my life.

New York City
The Big Apple was on my to do list for sure, but I never felt that OMG feeling in my stomach to go visit. Am I making any sense?

Well I hope I do.

I arrived late to New York after my flight was delayed for 3 hrs.

I was scared, I’m not going to lie. You know me, I’m always acting strong.
On the ride to my hotel I couldn’t concentrate on what my Lyft driver was telling me, (I had a very, very talkative driver) I was so focused on seeing everything around me. Read more

BIRTHDAY TRIP 2018 WITH MAZDA

Disney world 2018

Our Birthday was back in April.

It’s no secret that instead of planning parties (which in my opinion parties are a waste of dinero)

I would rather Jailah have an experience that she will always remember.

She’s only had two actual birthday parties, her first birthday and when she turned 7.

Instead we do birthday trips.

We usually take our birthday trip during the same month as out birthdays, but this year we decided to wait a little longer.

Our destination: Disney World!

We’ve been to Disneyland 3 times .

For most of our trips of we head over to the west coast, California specifically, which we love and can never get enough of.

This year we decided to switch it up and head over to the east coast, give Florida a try, and visit Disney World.

MY SIGNATURE BUN LOOK WITH A TOUCH OF SELENA

Today is Selena’s Birthday!

Selena Quintanilla LookThis weekend my daughter and I watched the Selena movie.
It’s amazing to see the effect that her legacy still have on kids this days.

We’ve watched her movie before and also listen to her songs all the time.
For some reason my daughter was completely invested on her movie this time, she cried at the end.

All weekend she kept saying, why did Selena died.
A questions we still ask til this day.

To honor her on her birthday I wanted to create a look similar to her iconic looks. Read more

MY FIRST SMOKEY-ISH EYE LOOK

It’s no secret that my safe place when it comes to make up is warm colors.

I have always admire make up artist and people that create smokey eyes.
Specially when they use black eye shadow.

Neutrogena #Neverbetter

They say that as a make up lover you shouldn’t be scared to experience outside of your comfort zone.
I wish it was a lot easier for me to incorporate more smokey eye looks.

Finally, I decided to give it a try.

I went for it and created a light smokey eye look.

WHAT I WORE FOR WE ALL GROW SUMMIT 2018

#Wellnessday18
It is no secret that a lot of #WeAllGrow Summit attendees were

a bit stressed about what to wear for the event.

Including my self.

I had a vision of what I wanted to wear.
Although low key I knew it wasn’t going to work out for me.

Two weeks before the event I started to officially look for outfits.
You know it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t leave things till the last minute.
I researched online boutiques, amazon, clothing stores, the mall, you name it!

I think what got me a little stressed was the welcoming party on the first night.
Last year event was something more chill, so it was easy for me to put an outfit together.
This year Neutrogena wanted to go all out with a carpet welcoming party.

I am not really into dresses.
I’m short so I don’t think that they favor me very much.
Plus you know I got lonjas (love handles)

Finally, two days before the event I was able to put my outfits together.
Which I wanted to share with you all on this post.
